CEOUK-Singapore-backed collaboration harnesses AI to predict asthma exacerbations on wearable patient monitors
London / Singapore, 18th June 2026 - Jiva.ai, the company that helps enterprises build and own secure AI systems through a zero-code platform designed for the era of digital sovereignty, has completed a three-year UK-Singapore innovation programme with Aevice Health, which has developed and validated an AI-powered method for predicting asthma exacerbations before they occur.
Funded by Innovate UK and Enterprise Singapore, the co-innovation programme has built medical AI that predicts asthma exacerbations before they happen with 60%+ accuracy. By combining UK-based Jiva.ai’s advanced AI capabilities with Aevice Health’s expertise in remote patient monitoring, the partnership has delivered a predictive tool designed to help patients proactively manage their respiratory health.
The project combined Aevice’s continuous respiratory monitoring data with Jiva.ai’s patented model-fusion AI technology, enabling multiple streams of physiological and patient-reported data to be analysed together. Aevice Health’s AeviceMD is an FDA-cleared, discreet, wireless wearable stethoscope and software platform that tracks real-time, continuous respiratory data. When tested, AeviceMD streamed its data - eg. wheeze detection, heart rate, and respiratory rate - alongside patient app inputs. This multimodal data was then processed through the Jiva AI platform.
This partnership established a compliant international data-sharing framework and analysed anonymised data from 185 patients across multiple clinical sites. These integrated models demonstrated the ability to predict sudden asthma exacerbations within distinct 24-, 48-, and 72-hour windows, providing patients with a quantitative warning system to take early action according to their clinical plan.
Chronic Respiratory Disease (CRD) affects more than 545 million people worldwide and is one of the leading causes of death. Asthma and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) are the two most common forms of CRD, diseases that can be worsened by stress, infections, allergens, such as dust and pollen, and poor air quality. With data from the World Health Organisation (WHO) showing that 99% of the global population breathes air that exceeds its guideline limits, the need for technological breakthroughs in respiratory care has never been more urgent.
Dr Manish Patel, CEO and Co-founder of Jiva.ai, said, “This partnership harnessed the best of Aevice Health and Jiva.ai: they brought the novelty of capturing the data in the first place, and we brought along the expert ability to analyse it. Following successful completion of the programme, Jiva.ai and Aevice are exploring the next phase of clinical validation and regulatory development to advance the technology towards commercial deployment.”
Dr Rex Tan, Chief Technology Officer at Aevice Health, said, “Developing a predictive model for asthma exacerbations is an important step toward helping patients better understand their risk and stay engaged with their care. By identifying individuals at higher risk of deterioration, this approach can support earlier intervention, better adherence, and more proactive disease management.
While the initial outcomes are encouraging, further work is needed to translate this into real-world clinical practice. We look forward to continuing our collaboration with Jiva.ai to advance predictive analytics in respiratory care.”
